About EVA’Z
Since 2011, Eva has developed her own way of teaching in Heemstede: with clear explanations, personal attention and a close eye on how each person moves. That approach is still at the heart of the Pilates and yoga classes at EVA’Z today.
The story of EVA’Z
Before focusing fully on Pilates and yoga, Eva worked as a teacher in education. Her background in teaching is still clearly reflected in the way classes at EVA’Z are explained and guided.
That experience continues to form an important foundation for the way she teaches. Rather than simply demonstrating what to do, Eva explains why, pays close attention to what each person needs and makes movement easy to understand.
EVA’Z began on Herenweg in Heemstede. What started as Eva’s own place to put her approach to teaching into practice gradually developed into the studio it is today.
EVA’Z later moved to Blekersvaartweg, creating more space for the classes and for the studio as participants know it today.
Continuing to develop
Experience matters, but for Eva it is never a reason to stop learning. Several times a year, she takes part in training and courses to deepen her knowledge and bring new insights into her classes.
Ongoing training and courses keep her knowledge up to date and provide new insights into movement, guidance and teaching.
New knowledge doesn’t remain theoretical. What is relevant is translated into clear guidance and practical adjustments during class.
Having a lot of knowledge doesn’t mean the explanation needs to be complicated. Clear guidance helps participants better understand what they are doing and what they are feeling.
The way we teach
At EVA’Z, quality is not only about the exercises themselves. It is just as much about how they are explained, guided and, where needed, adapted to the people taking part.
Everyone moves differently. That is why exercises can be adapted, simplified or made more challenging without losing the flow of the class.
You are not only told what to do, but also what to pay attention to and what an exercise is intended to achieve. This makes movement increasingly easy to understand. The same adaptable approach applies to language: the classes are mainly taught in Dutch, but when international participants join, Eva naturally combines Dutch and English where needed, so everyone can follow the same class comfortably.
Classes are focused, but there is also room to laugh. Good guidance and a relaxed atmosphere go perfectly well together.
Quality first
Eva is at the heart of the way EVA’Z works. When other teachers lead a class, the same high standards for knowledge, guidance and quality remain.
Every teacher needs to fit the way participants at EVA’Z expect to be taught and supported. This helps ensure that the quality and approach of the classes remain recognisable, regardless of who is teaching.
Other teachers contribute to the schedule, but the EVA’Z approach remains consistent: knowledgeable, personal and attentive to the way each person moves.
Why people keep coming back
For many people from Heemstede and the surrounding region, EVA’Z classes have been part of their week for years. Some participants have known the studio since its earliest days.
New participants practise alongside people who have been coming for many years. Different ages and levels move together, each working within their own abilities. For some international participants, the connection lasts beyond everyday life in the Netherlands: when they return to the country, they make a point of coming back to Eva’s classes.
You take part within your own abilities, even when others have more or less experience.
For many people, EVA’Z classes have been part of their week for years.
At EVA’Z, people of different ages practise alongside one another, from secondary-school age to people in their eighties and beyond. Some classes naturally attract slightly younger or older participants, but age alone does not determine which class is right for you.
Serious movement, clear guidance and room to simply enjoy the class and have a laugh.
The studio
The studio on Blekersvaartweg is spacious and has a calm, relaxed atmosphere. Large mirrored walls allow you to see yourself clearly during class and follow your posture and movements. This combines the practical side of moving well with the calm of a place where you can step away from the busyness outside for a while.
